Richard Cooper - CTT/CTX

Hi

I've been at CTT for 3 years working on the CTX donation programme, among other initiatives. CTT serves UK charities and NGO's by helping them understand, access and exploit ICT to further their missions. We have helped over 11,000 charities through the CTX programme and many more through our email marketing and payments services.

We're currently in the fourth cycle of a major programme, funded by the UK Department of Health, to provide grants to adult care providers to support the digital inclusion of adults in care. The programme is called GetConnected. CTT is running the process in collaboration with LASA. So for nearly 1,000 adult care providers have recieved grants totalling £9m through the programme.

My role in CTT is to support our technology develop, develop donors and partnerships, and basically anything else that progresses our work!

Before CTT, I worked for a number of IT companies including Gartner where I carried out 'forensic' cost of ownership studies on major organisations across the globe.

Intro to WCE

We bring such assets as logistics capacity in developing countries, a network of vetted local partners in 71 developing countries, 700 capacity building volunteers, refurbished computers, and content to load on computers to collaborations. Our main needs from collaborators are volunteers interested in working for 2 weeks in developing countries, more contacts in developing countries, surplus computers, joint venture partners, and funds to sponsor our costs for our local partners.   TAnderson@WorldComputerExchange.org

Introduction-- Wendy Hanamura, Link TV

Hi,

I'm the VP & General Manager, of Link TV, a non-profit, independent media network.  We run a 24/7 television network on satellite TV in North America that reaches about 33 million US homes, an online media portal at www.linktv.org, and most recently we've launched a semantically driven platform for video:  www.ViewChange.org

My priorities are using media--primarily video--to advance social change.  Link TV's mission is to connect Americans to the world.

In www.ViewChange.org we are making high quality videos about global development available to people/NGO's around the world to use and share in their work.

My main needs are:  help in getting these great video assets disseminated to groups who can use them around the world!

We bring these assets to our collaborations:  advanced semantic tools for video discovery and sharing; the ability to curate and distribute global stories on video; a 24/7 television network that reaches 1 in every 3 US homes; a website with 5000 high quality streamed videos; in other words:  a pipeline to a socially active, globally aware audience.

contact me at whanamura@linktv.org  or at TSG2011 call me via cell:  415-335-0895.

Ari Katz, IREX

I am Ari Katz, deputy director for technology and civil society at IREX, a international development nonprofit based in Washington, DC. I work on programs that use technology to help organizations and institutions better fulfill their missions in a variety of ways - with youth, with libraries, with schools, and with governments.   My priorities include figuring out how to bring access to information in new and engaging ways to those who could benefit from it, and trying to integrate libraries more into the development dialogue. IREX brings well-managed projects in a number of countries to collaborations. We have learned that tech can't be dropped in on its own - where it has potential is integrated into a supportive environment of experimentation, learning and capacity building.

Check out www.irex.org and http://irexgl.wordpress.com/ for more about what we do.

You can find me on twitter at @katzistan or @irextech.
