Apple TV streaming quietly goes international

paidContent :: Back in August, we wrote about how Apple had started to offer U.S.-based users of its Apple TV device the ability to stream shows purchased from iTunes via Apple’s iCloud. Now it looks as if that service is becoming available internationally. Apple has not made news of its new streaming capabilities official yet, but people have spotted the service working in the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Apple hiring developer to help build iWork web (!!) apps

TheNextWeb | TNW :: Apple is looking to hire a software engineer to help the iWork team craft a web experience, according to a job posting discovered by Appleinsider. The position calls for an applicant to work with the iWork team on the ‘front and/or back end of scalable web applications’.

The posting comes just a day after Apple revealed its iCloud.com beta service which allows access to web apps like the Calendar, Contacts and Mail.

Does iCloud actually have anything to do with cloud computing?

ReadWriteWeb :: In a refreshingly bitter post at Tech Target, Carl Brooks wrote: "Apple iCloud is not cloud computing." Brooks went on: ""You know what iCloud is? Streaming media. In other words, it's a Web service. Not relevant to cloud; not even in the ballpark."

But there are certainly some cloudy elements to iCloud. At the very least, it's a software-as-a-service. It fulfills the cloud promise of providing anytime, anywhere access to data.
